About The Hamden Education Foundation
Our Mission Statement
The Hamden Education Foundation (HEF) is a community organization dedicated to enriching the tradition of excellence in the Hamden Public Schools. The Foundation seeks to form a bond between community members who care deeply about our students and the educators dedicated to teaching them.
Our History
Hamden citizens came together to form HEF because they recognized the
importance of innovative education. Like the members of many Connecticut
communities that have formed local education foundations, these citizens
recognized that public schools could benefit from additional support in
educating the next generation successfully. To this end, in 2001 the
founders consulted with the Board of Education, public school
administrators, town officials, and community groups in order to establish
HEF as a vital fund-raising and project-oriented organization.
Selected Projects and Programs made possible by our community acting
together:
- Digital video studio at the High School
- Eighty mini-grants to teachers
- Athletics and Weight Room at the High School
- Names Can't Hurt Me Program at the Middle School
- Major funding contributor to the National Urban Alliance Program
